Blackberry Mojito

This cocktail, a favorite of Brandy Wendler's, is fresh, minty and perfect drinking for warmer months. The addition of blackberries to the traditional mojito not only adds a gorgeous magenta hue, but also a sweet-tart flavor that is just sublime.

  • Put the blackberries, lime chunks, mint and sugar in a cocktail shaker. Smash with a muddler (or the handle end of a wooden spoon), until berries are crushed.
  • Add the rum and ½ cup of ice and shake vigorously.
  • Strain the mixture into two highball glasses filled with crushed ice (I also like to open the shaker to pour some of the thicker berry juice into the glasses).
  • Top with soda water and serve immediately, garnished with lime and extra berries, if desired.
